Re: [LUG] Fedora
Hi Peter
Being a relative newbie I would suggest going a Debian route. A bigger
learning curve but.... I am sure you have heard of dependancy hell!
Well I go with the route that many Linux folks want to go, i.e. one way
of installing a package. Red Hat, Mandrake, Suse tend to use their own
installers. I am not sure whether this is good for the community and so
I say go with what has to be the best and easiest way to install
software! That is apt-get.
There are some commercial packages out on the Linux circuit, Libranet,
Lindows, someone was kind enough to send me a copy and I could burn of
a copy for you but the thing about these commercial packages is that
they use apt-get. It is bullet proof in terms of dependancies.
Anyway, 'nuff said... I wished that I had gone the Debian route right
from the start! Hope all goes well whatever route you take!

Hi
I am slowly moving to Linux, using currently Red Hat 9. (This email is
an example of the slow migration). However it appears that Fedora is a
better bet than Red Hat 9. Does any one recommend not moving to
Fedora?
Thanks
Peter
