More on the SuSE saga. One of the packages available via YOU after installation is fetchnvidia which, when installed, will download and install an Nvidia driver. As I have a Nvidia card I tried it and lo the Nvidia splash page appeared with 3D enabled. I can ony assume that SuSE and Nvidia have some deal going as all the present drivers on the Nvidia site require that the kernal sources are installed (if you remember there were no sources on the SuSE 9.1 Personal CD). But..... Everything worked fine until the screensaver activated. After which the display froze and the keyboard and mouse were locked out. Without looking too deeply into what happened (by now I was very p***ed off) I can only presume the xserver crashed. So all in all I'm not best pleased with SuSE's latest offering. Hopefully 9.1 Pro will maintain SuSE's prestige. For the moment I've gone back to SuSE 9.0 and am seriously considering Debian when I next upgrade.
