Hi, I though i would give Mandrake 10 Community ago as I have basicly knackered 9.2 by continual fiddling :-) (but thats the fun isn't it!) Booted of the first CD, selected my keyboard and was told my "partition table is too corrupt" with an offer to wipe my HD clean, how nice. Fdisk dosn't think its "too corrupt" :-> [root@xxxxxxxxx robin]# fdisk /dev/hda The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 4982. <- (is this ok?) Command (m for help): p Disk /dev/hda: 40.9 GB, 40982151168 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 4982 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/hda1 * 1 2455 19719756 7 HPFS/NTFS /dev/hda2 2456 4982 20298096 5 Extended /dev/hda5 2456 2486 248944+ 82 Linux swap /dev/hda6 2487 2517 248944+ 82 Linux swap /dev/hda7 2518 2548 248976 82 Linux swap /dev/hda8 2549 2579 248976 82 Linux swap /dev/hda9 2580 4982 19302034+ 83 Linux Any ideas how to check for /fix the problem or is this a bug in MDK10s installer? or are 4982 cylinders a problem?, I though that was just old software. Thanks Robin
