Hi, I know some of you are at Plymouth- perhaps you can help me. I'm seriously hacked off with the portal. My daughter has had problems with the site regularly crashing M$ IE (which serves her right for using it), but today was really bad news. She logged on using my main machine, started tunnelling down through the amazing complex and un-user-friendly menu system to try to find out something about next years' modules, and it crashed Firefox. I had to kill it, and she tried again with Opera which seg faulted (it normally is fine). Opening Firefox again, and trying to access the same pages on the portal caused the machine to lock solid! I don't expect this from Linux, and re-booting- as if this was a Windows box! - resulted in a massive list of errors, red failed markers, and a total inability to log in to the read-only system. Fail-safe, Rieserfsck in all its glory, and the SuSE repair system failed to reinstate the file system, and I had to do a total re-install. No problems, apart from time as I was fully backed up, BUT What the dickens could cause such a system failure? What is wrong with Plymouth Uni portal that it is down so regularly, and can fsck up not only M$ but Linux boxes? Any help, advice, comments, gratefully received....
