I've been wondering whether I can back up my DVD movies too.
Not legally. If you are staging it as part of playing a DVD you own then copying it onto a magnetic disc is not something to which I can see a cogent objection, although there are well-organised groups who would attempt to stop you. (oddly, on the basis that if they sold you a watch, and it broke, you would not be entitled to have them make you another which is so clearly illogical that perhaps they don't have a working argument against backing up) Can one mount such a collection as a loop and play it as a DVD drive, BTW? -- Adrian Midgley (Linux desktop) GP, Exeter http://www.defoam.net/ -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
