I have inherited a box running Red hat. It has a user account on it that is used for backing up from a remote site with ftp. Any idea why when it has a certain number/size of files on it. It then refuses to allow any more? It does not, as far as I know run user quota s/w on it. Linux linux 2.4.7-10 #1
Some ftp servers run their own limits, proftpd has per user file and bandwidth and quota limits as a module.
Older *nix flavours also use to run out of inodes, but not sure Linux does this (at least it doesn't do it often if it does, 'df -i' will check if it is close).
