[LUG] transferring a disk structure to another, bigger one

Having used dd to copy all the contents of /dev/hda to a new /dev/hdb

how do I persuade the new drive that it is much bigger?

This is part of a large upgrade, and if driven to it I'll just start from 
scratch, but then I have to transfer ownership of files and IDs and so on.

Now, next question is SuSE 8.2 or SuSE 9.0.  Got both.
