[LUG] kmail in suse 9 won't send

Hi

I am trying to set up kmail in suse 9, for e-mail, it's recieves mail fine
but won't send, I get the message

The server did not accept the sender address

The server responded "<paul suttton <<> "@" or"." expected after "paul"

does this mean that I should have something like

paul@ what ever my computer name is

my user name is pausut
i think my domain or computer name is linux (not sure about this)

my actual e-mail is zen14920@xxxxxxxxx

gettting at my mail is fine, so I should be able to use the identity setting
for getting mail too.
