BTW: KDE has a nice Task Manager type utilities, which is also on a short cut, not sure what the shortcut is, but it must be badly placed as I see get it by accident about twice a month! Shows basically "top" style output in a nice GUI, and lets you zap programs with the mouse. Nice but not so nice as to stop me using "top" and "kill". I think the right answer is "ensure the process is sent a SIGTERM, and if this is not successful in 15 seconds or the usual period to stop the application a SIGKILL may be used but the process may ot clean up after itself", the rest is interface fluff ;) Now was it the IBM manuals that described SIGKILL as terminate with extreme prejudice? Unix manuals have become more bland with time. Simon, living in a fantasy world where terminator mice kill children with extreme prejudice, whilst eating spam. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQE/eFiMGFXfHI9FVgYRAiGmAKDGJaSOjLA21Mv61XB0+Gm5DwyK8wCfcb+D EfxsHvf/8rwYuw7KZQLGhOk= =n5N+ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
