If that is the case then ./configure --disable-qt is the easiest way out. Qt lives in /usr/lib/qt3 but you will probably be missing the header files which are needed to compile the qt utilities in avifile (look for a directory called "include"). SuSE normally splits these off into a separate package (qt-dev). Look for it with yast, it is possible that it is not contained in the personal edition, in which case get it from a SuSE mirror site. Compiling packages is useful experience, _expecially_ if problems arise, but don't let it get you down if it proves too complicated, the next one may be easier.
