---------- Forwarded Message ---------- Subject: FW: Open Source: Just what the doctors ordered THIS RELEASE HAS BEEN DISTRIBUTED BY WEBITPR Open Source: Just what the doctors ordered The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) has chosen Trustix (www.trustix.com) to supply a Linux based e-mail server to deliver bulk e-mail to over 6000 GP's across the United Kingdom. Tony Betts, IT Manager, Royal College of General Practitioners stated: "We needed a robust, scaleable and configurable solution to enable database applications to improve communications to our members. The Trustix solution met our current needs and future plans, including the potential move of more services to open systems." The reasons for selection were the ability of the Trustix mail and web server applications to run without causing problems to other applications running on the same hardware and the excellent upgrade path offered by IBM xSeries server platform. Superior performance was also an advantage, with fortnightly e-mail delivery taking less than two hours rather than three days required by the proprietary solution. The solution, supplied by ee-scape, will also allow the RCGP to provide new services in the future, including web enabling of the College's Quality initiatives. James Dean UK Sales Director, Trustix. commented "We are delighted that the Royal College has chosen our solution as the basis for web-enabled communication with its members." -- From one of the Linux desktops of Dr Adrian Midgley http://www.defoam.net/ -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
