I've done much the same thing, I'm afraid - I gave up on trying to get my PCMCIA network card to work under Debian and gave MDK 9.1 a try. The upshot is that I have a fully functionning network card and a very pretty KDE 3.1 8-) but no apt-get :-( Would my success with mandrake suggest that I need a newer version of pcmcia-cs or something? Do you think it's worth trying to install the Debian "testing" release? I haven't give up on Debian (yet)!
