I still haven't got anywhere with installing my ethernet card on my Debian laptop. Typing "cardctl ident" spits out the card ID details. I've inserted a card definition with these details into /etc/pcmcia/config and got it to reread the configuration using "kill -HUP", but I'm still not sure that this has actually acheived anything - it still just gives one low-pitched beep (which I think means that it hasn't been recognised) and spits the hex IDs into the system log. Although it's probably fairly academic as I don't think I've got to this stage, I tried to recompile the drivers as they seem to be Redhat-only and hence presumably won't work under Debian, but I came unstuck because /usr/src/linux/include/linux/modversions.h doesn't exist (and needs to be included in order to compile them). Arghhh... it's all too difficult! Maybe I should just install Windows! ;-) Jon -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
