[LUG] mathsy word docs

Someone is supplying me with Word documents which have tons of maths
in them. I can't see most of it and I certainly can't write them using
OpenOffice. 

Has anyone got a solution for this "I seem to need Word" problem?

Of course, I'd much prefer to write my mathsy docs using LaTeX.
