[LUG] What Ricks been doing.
Hello again all you LUGGERS
Sorry i haven't been active on the list in recent months. In the main
this has been due to my uglyrock address becoming defunct. I have
resubscribed under my new address.
Looking back to the Migration of Super Tramp to 99% Linux. Describing
this as a Successful project would be to hugely understate it. It has
proved itself to be totally reliable, unbelievably cost effective and
has taken our business IT systems to a new level. Today I was looking at
the desks of our sales staff. The most amazing transition has taken
place. Their desks used to have loads of paper and bits and bobs on them
note pads and the such like . Each of the desks was populated by a Linux
Thin Client and that was it. I believe Microsoft had the idea of the
paperless office, I find it both humorous and delightful that it took
Linux and OS software to achieve that dream.
This success prompted Chris Prentis to consider another possibility.
Why not do the same thing for other businesses in the South West.
Well that is what I have been doing. I would like to introduce you to
http://www.sttechnology.co.uk
ST Technology (Super Tramp Technology or Straight Talking Technology) is
a company with 5 Staff. We specialise in supporting and assisting
businesses to benefit from Linux and Open Source Software. You can find
out more about us at our Website.
We have made some really interesting developments including development
of our own Thin Clients ( Hardware and Software) These show massive
improvements over the Axels we were using. Offering 65536 colours, Zero
network Lag and much lower server overhead. Ontop of that they are more
cost effective.
Best of all though we our Open Source and License Free !
