[LUG] Radius on Linux

How easy is it to set up a Radius server (freeradius?) on Linux. I've google around 
the web but can't get a good feel for the difficulty level - for instance the Freeradius 
page suggests you compile from source. I'm really looking for a solution that would 
allow a Linux newbie to follow a list of instructions and end up with a working system.
