For my own part I was not suggesting that I am doing anything outside of the principles of "fair use". I have found cdparanoia to be an excellent tool for rescuing well loved (and well scrached) cd's which I was having problems playing on my equipment. Nowadays I make a copy of any cd I buy as a matter of course and store the original media in a safe place.
