This is ht elaptop that has given really good reliable service under SuSE 7.2, but I never did get a webcam working on it, and 7.2 is reaching the end of its supported time. And I had W2k taking up space on it which I didn't want. So I put 8.1 on. nice install onto a newly partitioned disk, but no suspend - shut the lid and it carries on running. Took it to London like that, and got really tired of booting instead of restarting. Tried a couple of things, ACPI was not fully supported, so I've turned that off, and depend on APMD. Now no restart... or no mouse ... or restarts, but with a fractured X11 display like one o those sliding tile toys.
