Faulty extension wiring. 2. Linux / software config 3. Modem error Answers: 1. Errors have been replicated using modems plugged directly into the BT socket with no other connections. 2. 5 different distros, 3 different modems, problems known for >1 year 3. Having said that we get more calls about home highway than > adsl and as for linux support from the helpdesk ? > "Linux ? Whats Leenuks ?" Exactly. What I want from broadband is independence - by using RADSL I know I can plug a combo modem/router directly into the line and run the rest of the LAN off it using TCP/IP. Can I do the same with Highway? I don't want to have one machine running constantly to provide access, I want to be able to access the net no matter which machine I use and no matter which other machines are running. Of course I can run off any one permanent machine using iptables and route, but if that's all I can do then I'll stay on dial-up. - -- Neil Williams ============= http://www.codehelp.co.uk http://www.dclug.org.uk -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+Rk3Wk7DVr6iX/QIRAhJ8AKCGkVMd8/pbgfIV2FXxR7yErBn77ACgg30o jHPzakwAgVOHTP9F/1CywQk= =AIla -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
