Of course it isn't the Chinese new year yet, I was thinking
maybe having a meal out in Exeter (Chinese if they are open),
and inviting a Chinese acquaintence who is back in Hong Kong for
the anticlimax that is the 1st January, and who clearly will
need to celebrate properly at the appropriate time.

The appropriate time is Saturday the 1st of February this year,
and it is the year of the sheep next year (so to speak).

PS: In case you are wondering this isn't the new dynamic get up
and go Simon, or the old insomniac Simon, rather my barometer's
storm alarm went off at 5am this morning, and it doesn't have  a
way to switch the alarm off AFAICT. My revenge is that the
person who gave it to me is crossing the channel this morning
(Plymouth/Roscoff) and I don't have a number to call and tell
them not to, let's hope they didn't have breakfast before they
set off ;-)
