I settled on nanosleep because it was Posix conforming this
morning - was this a mistake?

Any good explanations of Posix threads and waiting for
conditions to change around, that normal people can understand ?
As I'm sure sleeping is a "BIG" hack here, especially since I
already assumed the OS has Posix threads.
