Many thanks for all the replies. I did try once (SuSE v7.0 I think) to install with the PnP deselected. SuSE installed happily but Windows 98 on the other half of the box collapsed! I had to reinstall SuSE, with the PnP option on, to avoid this problem. Unfortunately I'm stuck with a dual boot system until my parallel type scanner gives up the ghost and I can drop Windows completely. However, Christmas is approaching ......
