RE Point 1.

Can't tell much on this subject, but the Senior Programmer at Ylem has done
some work on Key Bindings. I have over heard that you can do some stuff with
Xmodmap, but that's about as much as I know.

Xmodmap can do stuff at the X level, but you can generally do
more at the Window Manager level in terms of fancy switching
between applications.

So Neil, you really want to do this at the "X" level, or do you
just want to do it easily with one key ? KDE has ever easier key
mappings, but I'm still on KDE 1 most of the time so excuse me
if I don't have it all at my fingertips so to speak.
