OK, so where does your copy of RedHat keep the messages archive? It should be in /var/log ? No? I think you're right, this is a hammer job. There is precious little space on the Windows partition on this machine to store tarballs containing data not in the latest backup (which was mainly just /home), but at least Windows can be used as a dumb OS (!!) that takes files from the sickly hda3 and can transfer them onto other machines on the LAN with much more free storage. One or two reboots should do it. Yuk! Wish me luck, I'm about to wipe my main distro and re-install. (And then I'll have to upgrade to KDE3 all over again. Lovely.) :-((((((( Guess I won't be using apm --suspend any longer. - -- Neil Williams ============= http://www.codehelp.co.uk neil@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx linux@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx neil@xxxxxxxxxxxx -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE9VmUIiAEJSii8s+MRAiqjAJ9dqOcyeSDIZ7UeWL7mW4MuWLCh3QCfXwtz 43+aIC2bvoAyeXqjReqOwQs= =np81 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
