Whilst trying to find a simple graphical tool - try using "tar" just to make sure your data is safe. Good GUI interface to a tape backup system - hmm haven't seen one of those since Jumbo tape backup for DOS, and that was only menu driven. I mean it, and I've seen a LOT of computer system since 1991. The closest I've seen to Jumbo tape backup for DOS, is the Unix dump command, but it worries unnecessarily about block size<sic>, and doesn't handle tape changes quite as elegantly, and doesn't really have a GUI. The worst problem with graphical backup systems is they often need graphical restores, so if you have to install as far as getting X working before you can restore.....
