My only problem is getting an 'nVidia GeForce II MX' video card to work (if anyone has an idiot's guide for my card, please give me a shout)
see: http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?PAGE=linux1 however, briefly, [there are rpm and other pre-packaged drivers, you may want to use those instead]. download the lummox drivers from nvidia's site, NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-xxx.tar.gz NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-xxx.tar.gz make sure the two version numbers match. untar 'em (tar -zxf <fn>), cd into each directory, and type "make" then "make install". I think you'll probably need kernel-headers installed for the current kernel you are running. make sure the "NVdriver" klernel module is loaded by looking in 'lsmod'. if you are usinf X4.1, then.... in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4: under 'Section "Module"': Load "glx" then: Section "Device" Identifier "nVidia gForce II" Driver "nvidia" Option "CursorShadow" "true" Option "CursorShadowAlpha" "80" Option "CursorShadowXOffset" "x" Option "CursorShadowYOffset" "y" EndSection The 4 last options give you an alpha blended mouse cursor shadow, whih makes it look really rather funky. if you are not using X4, then i have noi idea i'm afraid :/ ~ Theo - -- Theo Zourzouvillys http://zozo.org.uk/ In the first place, God made idiots; this was for practice; then he made school boards. -- Mark Twain -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE9LDyI448CrwpTn6YRAlqlAKDb0fnTUYzfubcKU+6hZVKhW2kKAgCg+Qi0 TOL1zrWtI23Ng2dKtnjTStA= =dPrw -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
