sadly, that method doesn't work anymore :pWhy not - on the phone no one knows you are over 18.
i tried a few times - and get "you sound a lot older", so gave up on that one.
Q. "Would you be interested in double glazing?" A. "Would you like to join the church of Jesus Christ and later day saints?"
hehehehehhehe, i'll have to try that next time :p
They are calling you, and thus presumably consent to whatever phone manner you care to adopt, they can after all hang up on you. They can hardly complain, they are after all getting paid to listen to your creativity. Otherwise hang up, phone companies charge per connection, so it'll eat their profits.
i'm just too damn kind to just hang up, and feel bad all day after though! I tried too, and just couldn't.
Sadly nothing guarantees getting rid of really pushy sales people. I had one guy call here about 7 times in one day - you'd have thought he'd get the hint the third time when I called him a prat, and hung up, clearly someone who likes abuse, after the fourth time we just let it go to the answer phone.
eep.
The telephone preference service helps.
problem is, the number is nearly always witheld, and i can't ignore because of work stuff. I do sometimes proess the big red "F OFF" button if it's on my mobile and let if go through to my pager, but when it's on my homee phon i go crazy with it ringing for god-knows-how-long. i wonder how many sales prople try and sell the poor sole at the paging call centre double glazing :)
The remaining irritation is we have councillor Glanville's old number, and still get one or two calls a week, despite the fact we've had the number for over 3 years. Hopefully if I out live Councillor Glanville I can do a tearful, "Councillor Glanville's dead, don't you read the papers", then again I guess I could do that anyway ;)
teehee =) the another annoying thing is fax spam (and i can't use TMDA for that :p), and faxes being left to auto-send, but with my voice number as the number. are there no laws about unsolicited telephone calls? surly people have the right to be left alone without being bothered. I guess this leads to whether email spam should be illegal in the UK. At least you can track telephone calls more easily. (well, the telco can). ~ Theo, still learning how to live in england ;) - -- Theo Zourzouvillys http://zozo.org.uk/ Don't tell any big lies today.
