Hmm I think they were all SGI still when I was training there, I have this vague recollection of doing a lot of text based work that couldn't be rendered locally for some reason..... The use of MS Office seems very strange, we were using Applixware at the Met office when they bought the SGI's I think, but it wasn't the "official" word processor, just the best one we had. Applixware licences were more then than VMWare licences are! They were doing extensive Postscript printing everywhere, so *nix compatible printing wasn't a problem. I fear many a *nix house was lost to the evil empire through products like Autocad dumping Unix along with NT4 allowing them to run MS Office and CAD together. Might still be a few who can be rescued with the right kind of desktop package including hardware graphics support, I think HP's offering looks interesting here as well as IBM's. -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
