Strangely enough the only ISP who never gave me problems with a cancelled account was AOL.
teehee =) Well, I joined AOL a few years back when I started spending a lot of time in germany with my fiance, they wouldn't take credit card on;y bank details, and it had to be a german bank account, which was fine, as my girlfriend has a german account, so used hers. This year I managed to blag lo-call access from energis in germany, so cancelled by account with AOL, or so I thought. I wrote them a letter telling them to do so, and called them 3 times. My girlfriend was charged again for the last 3 months, so I phoned them and they appologised and set her a letter which said they refunded the money - but It still hasn't happened. The money may or may not come out of her account on the 15th again, we'll see. with regards to notnet, we have a slightly different method of billing that seems to fix these problems. We invoice monthly in advance to customers, invoices go out on the 15th, and they should be paid by the 1st of the next month. How the customer pays is completly up to them: they can send us a cheque, use a credit card, standing order, or just plain money transfer. If people find it a pain to do this every month they they can pay in advance for 3 months once they are sure they like us and want to stay with us. This way, the customer stays in control, and we don't have any right to take money from them, insted we have to make sure we keep them happy and they stay with us ;) a lot of customers set up standing orders, which means they don't have to worry about the payment every month, and they are still in contol of the payment. This does cause a lot more administration on our side, we have an almost full time beancounter looking after accounts and checking what has been paid or not - but certianly worth it from the customer point of view i think. ~ Theo - -- Theo Zourzouvillys http://zozo.org.uk/ Q: What do you call a half-dozen Indians with Asian flu?
