Semi-automatically. I already have a Python script that generates an email with input from user, and I'm working on getting it to send a file by FTP to a repository, with a link placed in the email, so as to avoid the local problem of a Word doc being emailed to 75 practices all of whom have their mailbox on teh same hard drive as the person sending the mail - thus 76 copies of the same file are generated on the same disk. What I'm talking about though is triggering the same event you get when you click on a mailto: link, so that you can drive the generation of a standard email from something else, but leave the use rto fill in the text. That probably points to the solution in fact, since kmail doesn't have to be running to generate those.
