The install day meeting will start at 1:30 pm in the function room of the Crawford Hotel, Exeter. See the SWLUG site for directions and a map.
Unfortunately, no freebies have arrived :-( As a result of this, we will be able to install a choice of Mandrake 8.2, SuSE 7.3 or Redhat 7.2.
Although the meeting will be quite informal, here is a very rough order of events for the day: -
13:00 - A few of us arrive to set things up 13:30 - The meeting starts, welcome. 14:30 - A demonstration of (x)VNC by Rick from Supertramp. 15:30 - Compiling and installing Apache 2.0 with PHP from source by David. 14:00 - The power of Linux by David, including: A look at KDE 3 (dependant on managing to successfully compile it), demonstration of VMWare 3.1 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein (likely to crash due to lack of memory (so it says), but worth a try...).
No set time for the end of the meeting, best left to draw to a natural conclusion...
If anyone has any questions or would like to volenteer to talk/demo (our demo machine can be setup to do whatever), please get in touch ASAP. If anyone more experienced would care to do the Apache demo, it would be appreciated :-)
