I was thinking about this.. Many of use have old Boxed sets and ISO's are easy to burn - it would be a nice publicity and awareness stunt to provide Linux and related books to libraries rather than throwing them away or stuffing them in the attic. After all - how many of teh books you see in computer sections of libraries are less than 5 years old? I can probably spare 1 or 2 of my Linux Books and they are certainly more relevent now than the Windows Books I have that are the same age. Best of all we could provide each library with Free software that they don't have to worry about piracy with. People who don't have internet access or the tiem to spend 12 hours downloading Linux, Mozilla, Internet explorer, paint shop pro or Open Office Could borrow or buy the CD's of Free Software like Linux, FreBSD, GIMP, OPenOffice, Gnome Office, Mozilla, Apache (now better than IIS on windows as well as unix) - any copies sold could raise funds for the LUG, or related groups like YAS, the FSF, etc. It would work well with advertising for related companies -bookshops can say how great their selection of Linux and UNIX books is, computer shops and specialists can offer consultation and boxed sets, etc. Anyone up for attacking this - Pete and I are in Truro - we have a library in sore need of this kind of thing and I know 2 or 3 local companies use Linux and would be able to advertise on the page in the newspaper. any other volounteers to pick up cdes and books or to talk to librarians, papers and advertisers ?
