hi andy,

dial on demand is ok for ISDN with its quick dialup but i found it was 
unworkable with a modem.

i have diald control working on a VNC session on the gateway machine. 
that way either me or other half can grab the vnc session and set the 
link up/down etc.

in work we use the same setup with shared VNC sessions running on 
windows machines to control the ISDN dial up on our linux gateway/router,
