I know Fortran but less C :(

The GNU Chess guys never used any short hand notation, but maybe
they just liked typing large arrays of 64 numbers all the time.

C does support namelists I believe - bet that takes you back -
but I haven't seen them used for years so perhaps it was an
extension.

Surely the editor lets you repeat things easily?
