Does any one know how to set up a dns server on ethernet network using redhat 7.2 I run an apache server and at the moment I have to give the IP address i.e. http://1.1.1.1/ but
Don't do that. Use addresses from one of the subnets reserved to private networks - e.g. 192.168.x.x
http://linuxmachine/ would be much better!!
If that's all you need, you can just enter it in /etc/hosts on machines that need to know that name - no need for a DNS server. Otherwise, it's too complex for a brief on-list answer, but you may well find a modern implementation friendlier than the classic BIND (from the early days of Unix).
