[LUG] wrecked my terminal

I was fiddling about with the settings of Mandrake 8, fonts and font sizes, 
and I've ended up with the following:
1. All material typed at the command line is double spaced.
2. The cursor is flashing halfway along the line a considerable distance from 
the prompt.
It's driving me nuts.  It's impossible to edit any document, and I really 
need to try and set up leafnode, but I am finding it impossible to do any 
work at the CLI.
Can anyone point this newbie ( idiot ) in the right direction.
And on a more important point, is there any Linux training available and 
suitable for beginners, in Cornwall or West Devon?
