All five of them are on here anyway :)
Perl world view - I assumed there was more to it that "why isn't -w the default" ;)
Oh, the perl community's view of perl?
My meagre experiences with Perl have been good, I used CGI and SMTP modules to write a bespoke Form2Mail app to replace Microsoft's Frontpage extension, wrote a LDIF to Nokia 9110 address book converter, all of these had excellent packages I just "used".
A prime example of two of perl's many many uses. They are both very differnt types of app, but both suited to perl.
But a guide to roughly what is in CPAN, maybe illustrated with a sample app, and how do I make sure I have dependencies....
And how easy that is :)
Let me phrase that as they agreed to talk, I just don't know what it is about Open Source they are talking about, indeed some of them may not know much about Open Source at all, some people just like public speaking.
Well, in that case, how about viruses, security in general and the like. A concern of many businesses, I imagine. We use a diskless Debain based firewall (of our own creation). Much cheaper, and just as effective, as a commercial hardware firewall for the same capacity. That sort of thing might appeal to Windows users who thing they have to do their whole network with the same OS. ie. they believe they have to a complete transistion in order to use linux for anything. In fact, that might help banish some myths. Steve -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
