That is actually not a bad idea for a development of the (various) Linux 
filesystems.  On Cypherpunk, and relayed via UK-Crypto, there was an essay on 
failures, and the absence of encrypted filesystems as standard components was 
regarded or presented as being one of them, in contrast to various successes 
of the introduction of widespread use of crypto.

Short of encrypting the filestore, just arranging that gone is _gone_ would 
be a useful thing.
