Hi,
The Majority of ISP's will only allow smtp messages to relay through their 
servers if they are dialed into their systems.
The only option I can see is that your customers will have to change their 
smtp settings.
At the end of the day, if they are technically adept enough to be using a 
laptop with a wireless connection via hotspots, then they shouldn't have any 
great problem changing smtp server settings.
