Tom, iptables comes in two parts - the kernal space part and the user space part. The kernel space part is responsible for the filtering, and the user space part is responsible for managing the tables. You need to download the user space iptables from http://netfilter.samba.org - iptables-1.2.2.tar.bz2 is the latest. Cheers, Matthew Tom Laithwaite <tomlai@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> on 26/06/2001 20:24:11 Please respond to list@xxxxxxxxxxxx To: lug-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx cc: Subject: [LUG] Iptable problems I have recompiled my kernel (2.4.3) to include all the NAT stuff, but I can't issue the command 'iptables' it just says command not found. Have I missed a component in the kernel config? I read most of the help to find the ones I needed. I can modprobe iptable_filter. I have also had a go at compiling everything in, but still no luck. I know I am missing something but I can't work it out.
