you may also need to install a libxml-devel package.

"rpm -qa | grep libxml" gave me these results on my machine:

libxml10-1.0.0-2
libxml-1.8.7-0_helix_1
libxml-devel-1.8.7-0_helix_1

the last two, obviously, are from the helix-gnome set.  Maybe these will
help?
