RE: [LUG] XCDRoast
This is only a stab in the dark as I don't have a machine I can try it on to
hand, but...
I've only ever written to CD's as root, I don't think I've ever tried it any
other way.
from looking at the permissions on /dev/scd0
[root at moe /dev]# ls -l scd0
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 11, 0 Aug 24 2000 scd0
It seems it is owned by the disk group. it's quite possible then (as the
group permissions are rw-) that if you add the user in question to the disk
group (in /etc/group) that the user will then have enough permissions to the
scsi device to burn a cd.
This is just an idea though.
